According to a recent news report covering the accident, the dump truck was parked at a work site that was located atop a hill near a busy roadway. At some point while the dump truck was unoccupied, it began to travel down the hill toward the road below.
The driver of the truck attempted to stop it, but he was unable to do so and was run over by the truck in the process. The truck continued down the hill and into the road below, colliding with a vehicle. The woman inside the vehicle was killed in the accident. Four others were hospitalized as a result of the accident.
Police responded to the accident and are currently conducting an investigation into what caused the vehicle to careen out of control while unmanned. It is possible that the vehicle was left unsecured by its operator, or even that the vehicle’s braking system experienced some kind of failure.
